CEP Conference 2020

2020 will be a milestone year for New Zealand. We’ll have a Climate Change Commission, a general election and will be entering the decade when Paris commitments have to be achieved. Time is running out on 2030 and while many organisations have started the journey to lower emissions, they still need ongoing advice. For the others, fingertips have to be hovering over the panic button.

Add to that COVID-19. While New Zealand is finally emerging from lockdown, the world has changed. Organisations face a monumental challenge in addressing climate change in a post COVID world, but address climate change we must and deferring actions, even in testing times, will merely exacerbate the hurt of trying to achieve substantial emissions reductions in a short period at the end of the decade.

The easiest, most cost effective and judicious next step in achieving lower emissions is to learn what can be done and how to do it. That’s what the CEP conference is for and the 2020 programme will be focused on enabling delegates move their organisations to lower emissions.

Our 2020 conference will be delivered digitally, enabling delegates to overcome the constraints of travel and maintaining social distancing that our post-Covid world demands while still taking advantage of the knowledge and expertise of an outstanding line-up of speakers.

We’ve teamed up again with The Sustainability Society for 2020 and also partnered with EECA and its Gen Less programme to deliver this ultra low carbon conference.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Mike Hopkins (CEO) and the CEP Team
