Why be CEP Certified?
- Build your personal brand with digital badges.
- CEP credentials show expert level proficiency in specialist fields.
- One-click verification for employees and clients.
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements and Codes of Ethics and Conduct ensure maintenance of professional standards.
Certification structure
CEP offers two certifications:
- Certified Professional in Energy (CPE)
- Certified Professional in Carbon (CPC)
The certifications are made up of 14 and 15 modules respectively (see below) plus an Experience Assessment.
Common modules lay a foundation for the Specialist modules, and then a Common Capstone module completes the learning.
The final step to CEP Certification is the Experience Assessment.
About getting CEP Certified
CEP self-directed training modules cover a wide range of topics. Each individual module contains a number of lessons, short quizzes and a practice exam.
When you complete a module and pass its practice exam, this does not mean that you have achieved certification for that module. However, you will be prepared to pass the separate certification exam which relates to that module.
- You can choose to complete a module and progress no further. Alternatively, once you have completed a module you can also purchase and take the related certification exam.
- When you have passed the certification exam, you will receive your certification as a digital badge and a certificate.
- You can take individual modules and exams separately, or you can work through the whole set to gain full certification.
- If you are already a subject matter expert on the topic of a particular module, you may wish to take the certification exam on its own to gain the certification quickly.
Note that you will only achieve full CPE or CPC certification after you have completed all of the relevant modules, along with a successful experience assessment.
How much will CEP Certification training and assessment cost?
Fees vary, but we have made every effort to keep them affordable.
CEP members and employees of corporate partners are entitled to generous discounts on training fees, so join CEP now.
CEP Certification Scheme registration
Registration for the CEP Certification Scheme costs $100 + GST per year, payable when you first join the Scheme and annually thereafter. This fee helps to cover the costs of administering the Scheme, which include the provision of verifiable digital badges.
- The annual fee applies per person, not per certification.
- CEP certification fees will be revised annually and published on the CEP website.
Note: CEP reserves the right to update modules within the following certification framework.
