Shaping Excellence Feedback Programme
Shaping Excellence is our early access programme for selected self-directed training modules. Participants receive highly discounted access in exchange for providing structured feedback that helps us refine content, delivery and learning outcomes.
It’s a “help us to help you” initiative designed to ensure our professional credentials continue to meet high quality standards and deliver real value in the workplace.
How it works
A limited number (20) of each published module are available at a special rate of $200+GST (NZD) – a discount of 60%–77%, depending on the module and CEP member status.
In return, participants are required to commit to:
- Completing their module(s) within 3 months.
- Providing feedback after each lesson and a final summary after completion.
- Joining a feedback focus group in quarter two of 2026.
Programme conditions
- Up to 20 participants per module; availability closes once quota is reached.
- You may enrol in up to 3 modules at one time.
- Access can only be opened during CEP office hours – we are closed weekends and over the Christmas and New Year period.
- If paying by bank transfer, payment must be made within 5 working days.

Module overview
This self-directed online training module explores climate change risk management in Aotearoa New Zealand, covering its importance, tools for risk assessment using local data and current and future impacts on the environment, economy and communities. It reviews sector strategies, examines policy and legislative support, considers implementation challenges and develops equitable, sustainable approaches to strengthen resilience.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the module, you should be able to:
- Explain climate change risk management and its importance for Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment, society and economy.
- Identify key tools and methods for assessing climate risks, using Aotearoa New Zealand-specific data and resources.
- Describe current and future climate impacts on Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment, economy and communities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation and adaptation strategies across key sectors.
- Assess the role of policy and legislation in supporting climate risk mitigation.
- Critique the main technical, financial and social barriers to effective climate risk mitigation.
- Propose strategies to improve resilience for vulnerable populations and ecosystems, with a focus on equity and sustainability.

- Each lesson is an important part of this module, it is recommended you minimise distractions while viewing the videos.
- This module includes several short gateway quizzes that need to be passed for progression.
- Once you have completed all lessons, you will have access to a completion quiz to help prepare you for the badge exam.
- There is no limit on the number of times you can access the completion quiz, we recommend you repeat the exercise until you have achieved at least 75%.
- A certificate of completion will be available if you meet or surpass the 75% threshold in the completion quiz.
Demonstrate and promote your knowledge
- This module has a matching credential which carries a verifiable digital badge. You can get the credential and the digital badge for this module by passing an online badge exam, which will be released soon.
- Completing this module does not qualify you for the credential and badge. However, it is your best preparation for exam success.
- Your digital badge can be linked to popular social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and X.
- Clients or employers can easily verify your credential through the secure Accredible badge platform.
Certification requirements
You will achieve your full Certified Professional in CarbonTM (CPC) certification after you have:
- Obtained all of the required badges (within a 5 year timeframe).
- Successfully completed an experience assessment.
- Accepted our Code of Ethics, Code of Professional Conduct and our Disciplinary procedures.
- Registered for the CEP Certification Scheme.
