It reviews sector strategies, examines policy and legislative support, considers implementation challenges and develops equitable, sustainable approaches to strengthen resilience.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module, you should be able to:

Explain climate change risk management and its importance for Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment, society and economy.
Identify key tools and methods for assessing climate risks, using Aotearoa New Zealand-specific data and resources.
Describe current and future climate impacts on Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment, economy and communities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation and adaptation strategies across key sectors.
Assess the role of policy and legislation in supporting climate risk mitigation.
Critique the main technical, financial and social barriers to effective climate risk mitigation.
Propose strategies to improve resilience for vulnerable populations and ecosystems, with a focus on equity and sustainability.

This module includes several short gateway quizzes that need to be passed for progression.
Once you have completed all lessons, you will have access to a completion quiz to help prepare you for the badge exam.
There is no limit on the number of times you can access the completion quiz, we recommend you repeat the exercise until you have achieved at least 75%.
A certificate of completion will be available if you meet or surpass the 75% threshold in the completion quiz.
