CEP Conference: European leader in efficiency financing announced as Keynote

Leading European expert in efficiency finance announced as CEP 2025 keynote
CEP has secured another top European figure for its 2025 conference, announcing Peter Sweatman, CEO of Climate Strategy & Partners, as a keynote speaker.
Based in Madrid, Peter brings over 30 years of experience in finance, with more than 20 years dedicated to climate finance and energy efficiency. He has worked extensively with the EU Commission and the UN’s Energy Efficiency Financial Institutions Group (EEFIG) for a decade and served as the G20’s technical lead on energy efficiency finance for five years.
As Founder and Chairman of Energy Efficiency Capital Advisors, Peter has played a key role in structuring over €60 million (NZ$113m) in financing for energy savings and on-site power projects across Spanish cities. He was also a founding advisor to the Climate Bond Initiative and is a visiting lecturer at IIT-Comillas, IE and UAM universities in Madrid.
Commenting on the announcement, CEP CEO Dr. Mike Hopkins said:
“Europe is well ahead of New Zealand in energy efficiency, particularly in financing efficiency projects. Peter has been at the forefront of developing funding strategies, products, and services for over 20 years, working with major global institutions and Europe’s largest financial providers. He has demonstrated time and again that efficiency retrofits can deliver excellent returns for owners, tenants and investors alike. There’s no reason New Zealand can’t achieve similar efficiency savings and emissions reductions. I strongly encourage the New Zealand financial sector to attend and discover how they can generate outstanding returns while enhancing the ESG credentials of their portfolios.”
