Paul is a Process and Project Engineering Manager at Gibbs Consulting Engineers Limited.

Paul is a honours degree qualified process engineer who, over the last 15 years, has completed more than 40 industrial refrigeration audits in  15 different countries. He has identified more than $4 million/per annum of energy savings with a  payback of less than 3 years.

In addition to completing energy efficiency audits, Paul is also a project/design engineer where he helps clients design,  build and implement their projects.  This practical project implementation experience  means that the energy efficiency opportunities that Paul identifies are practical to implement.

One of Paul’s first energy efficiency projects was where he  identified a refrigeration heat recovery opportunity at Craggy Range winery in Hastings. Paul subsequently obtained a project grant from EECA to help subsidise the project, with WorleyParsons paying for the remainder of the capital install cost. WorleyParsons where subsequently reimbursed for their costs using the actual energy savings achieved. This effectively meant that Craggy Range could implement the project with no capital outlay.

Paul’s strength is optimising the entire refrigeration system, including all its different components, such as pumps, cooling towers and fans, rather than focusing on the refrigeration plant itself.
