Achieve digital badges to support your career development and progression
By passing CEP badge exams you can achieve a suite of digital badges, and then make your competence visible and verifiable online. Each badge:
- Is a stand-alone credential
- Is instantly verifiable
- Can be embedded into your digital signature
- Can be linked to your social media accounts such as LinkedIn, Facebook and X.
How to get a badge
To achieve a badge, you must pass the badge’s assessment.
- For most badges, the assessment is conducted through an online badge exam.
- For Certifications and specialist Endorsements, an Experience Assessment is also required.
CEP’s training material is designed to prepare you to pass these badge exams, so it is the best preparation for success that you can get. However, the training module is not a prerequisite for the exams. If you already know a subject well, you may choose to sit a badge exam without taking the training module on that topic.
In addition to passing the badge assessment, to hold a badge you must also be a participant in the CEP Certification Scheme. Scheme participation involves:
- A small annual fee (to cover administration costs)
- Acceptance of CEP’s Code of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct
- Acceptance of CEP’s Disciplinary procedures
- In some cases, ongoing CPD.
Collect badges to achieve certifications
- Collect 14 specific badges to become a Certified Professional in Energy (CPE). Collect the other 6 Certified Professional in Carbon (CPC)-specific badges to become a CPC as well.
- Collect 15 specific badges to become a Certified Professional in Carbon (CPC). Collect the other 5 Certified Professional in Energy (CPE)-specific badges to become a CPE as well.
- You can also achieve Endorsement badges to show your expert-level skills and knowledge in specific areas.
Staying current
- Digital badges are valid for five years, as long as your CEP Certification Scheme participation remains current.
- After five years you will need to be reassessed unless you are a Certified Professional at that time. In this case CPD requirements will apply.
