Job Description
Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing
Committed to making energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa New Zealand, our Retail structure is made up of a network of empowered teams, united by a shared purpose and clear goals, equipped with the skills and capabilities to deliver value to customers end to end.
As an Energy Partner you will strongly contribute to the delivery of the Retail Business’ growth strategy, by proactively driving a pipeline of new business, and providing value-add relationship management for opportunities within our portfolio of high value business customers. You will drive business growth and deliver exceptional value in every interaction to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
Other accountabilities include:
- Driving a pipeline of new business opportunities, developing, and implementing sales strategies to give Meridian the best possible chance of success.
- Managing a portfolio of business customers, including being responsible for uncovering the strategic opportunities.
- Focusing on retention by being a trusted advisor, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities, and ensuring that customers continue to choose Meridian for their energy needs.
- Ensuring that all customer interactions drive growth for both the customer and Meridian. Leverage your expertise to align customer needs with Meridian’s product offerings, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Contract negotiation and closing deals, ensuring that contracts are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and financial targets while meeting client expectations.

We are seeking a professional sales superstar with a stellar track record in business sales, and proven experience in driving growth and keeping customers happy. You’ll bring a proactive sales mindset with confidence in managing outbound calls, leading customer meetings, generating new business, and maintaining a robust pipeline to drive growth.
As a relationship-building expert, you’ll be focused and determined to not only retain customers but also to discover how we can add extra value to their business with our innovative energy products. You’ll have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which allows you to convey information clearly and effectively to all audiences.
To be successful in the role, you’ll be quick to learn and adaptable, ready to tackle changing circumstances, priorities, and business requirements with ease. Open to new ideas, approaches, and ways of working, you’ll continuously seek opportunities for improvement and innovation.
