Markus is the Strategic Sustainability and Climate Change Advisor  at Tonkin+Taylor and has experience in a wide range of sectors and industries, from transport, water and buildings to energy, resources, heavy industry and manufacturing.

Markus helps organisations develop and implement strategies and plans to reduce their carbon emissions, water consumption and waste generation etc and to have a positive impact (social license to operate) on the communities and environment they operate in – at an organizational or project level.  This may start with outlining the big picture, undertaking a Materiality Assessment, the development of business or project targets, e.g. a science based target for GHG emissions or the development of a sustainability policy. From there, Markus can help with developing implementation strategies and plans and their realisation, setting of appropriate KPIs (e.g. informed by Sustainable Development Goal indicators), corporate or project based reporting (TCFD) etc.

Markus is an Energy and Process Engineer by training with a Dipl.-Ing (Technical University of Berlin, Germany) and M.E. (Canterbury University, NZ) and an Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional.
