SUMMARY:New Zealand's sustainable biomass supply - without carbon debt
DESCRIPTION:About the webinar \nThere is frequent commentary in the media on the carbon debt associated with the use of forest derived biomass for bioenergy.  The implication is that there is a carbon debt that lasts for decades.  Much of this commentary comes from Europe and other northern hemisphere sources where much of the biomass is sourced from natural or managed natural forests. \nThe presentation will cover why New Zealand’s forest derived biomass is different\, why we have an inherently sustainable cut (volume of harvested biomass) and why the carbon debt from wood from plantation forests used for fuel has been at or about 1 year since around 1991. \n  \nAbout the presenter \nPeter Hall has worked in forest management\, logging\, and bioenergy research in various roles since 1978. \nCurrently employed at the Bioeconomy Science Institute (BSI) as a scientist/project manager\, in Scion Group’s Bioenergy programme\, working on biomass resource analysis\, solid fuels\, industrial symbiosis and techno-economic analysis of bioenergy and wood processing. \nDownload webinar flyer \nRegister for the webinar \n

SUMMARY:New Zealand-German Energy Dialogue |Onshore Wind: Market Comparison & SWOT Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (GNZCC)\, in cooperation with adelphi\, invites you to a technical webinar under the German-New Zealand Energy Dialogue focusing on onshore wind development in both countries. \nThis session brings together industry associations\, companies\, and system-level actors to compare market conditions for onshore wind in New Zealand and Germany. The discussion will be structured around a comparative SWOT analysis\, covering market scale\, project pipelines\, regulatory frameworks\, grid integration\, and implementation risks. \nNew Zealand’s onshore wind sector is entering a phase of significant expansion\, driven by growing electricity demand from electrification and the need to increase system resilience. At the same time\, project development faces challenges related to grid capacity\, consenting processes\, and supply-chain constraints. Germany\, by contrast\, is scaling up deployment at speed\, while addressing regulatory\, spatial planning\, and grid-related bottlenecks. \nThe webinar will combine perspectives from industry associations\, system operators\, and companies\, including Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy\, to provide practical insights into project development and delivery. It is designed as an interactive expert exchange rather than a series of stand-alone presentations. \nThe session is particularly relevant for companies and stakeholders interested in the New Zealand wind market and in the comparability of international market conditions. \nRegistration and more details\n

SUMMARY:New Zealand-German Energy Dialogue |Utility-Scale Solar: Market Comparison & SWOT Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The German–New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (GNZCC)\, in cooperation with adelphi\, invites you to a technical webinar under the German–New Zealand Energy Dialogue focusing on utility-scale solar development in both countries. \nThis session brings together industry associations\, companies\, and system-level actors to compare market conditions for large-scale solar in New Zealand and Germany. The discussion will be structured around a comparative SWOT analysis\, covering market scale\, project pipelines\, regulatory frameworks\, grid integration and implementation risks. \nNew Zealand’s utility-scale solar market is entering a phase of accelerated growth\, driven by increasing electricity demand and the need to diversify renewable generation beyond hydropower.  At the same time\, project development faces challenges related to grid capacity\, consenting processes\, and investment conditions. Germany\, by contrast\, continues to expand solar deployment at scale\, while addressing regulatory\, land-use and integration challenges. \nThe webinar will combine perspectives from industry associations\, system operators\, and companies to provide practical insights into project development and delivery. It is designed as an interactive expert exchange rather than a series of stand-alone presentations. \nThe session is particularly relevant for companies and stakeholders interested in the New Zealand solar market and in the comparability of international market conditions. \nRegistration and more details here\n

SUMMARY:CEP 2026 Conference
DESCRIPTION:We’re incredibly excited about 2026\, which marks an important anniversary and comes with several firsts for CEP and our Conference. \n2026 will be our 25th anniversary. We became incorporated as an independent society on 1st March\, 2001. CEP\, its Members and Corporate Partners have achieved a huge amount since then both in terms of saving money and constraining carbon emissions. It will be a big year and the pinnacle will be the 2026 Conference. \nWhile we haven’t been running an annual conference for all of that time\, 2026 will be the 17th. The event has grown\, expanded reach\, expanded influence and has become the premier annual event for energy\, carbon and sustainability professionals. We proudly claim it is the best value event of its type in New Zealand. \nWhile acknowledging the past\, we pride ourselves in being forward looking. For 2026 we’re looking forward to a new venue for the conference and a new city. For the first time\, the Conference will be held in Hamilton at the award winning Claudelands. We’re delighted\, again\, to be partnering with the Bioenergy Association for the event and look forward to welcoming delegates\, sponsors and exhibitors providing insight on future fuels. \nWe look forward to greeting you all to Claudelands on the 26th of May and to another outstanding CEP Conference.

SUMMARY:State of Bioenergy in New Zealand Webinar - Collaborating Partner Bioenergy Association
DESCRIPTION:The Executive Officer and three Interest Group Conveners will present a short overview of the bioenergy and biofuels sector\, along with current Association activities across the solid\, liquid and gaseous streams. \nThe 2024/25 period has been a pivotal one for bioenergy and biofuels.  In fact\, more policy and programme activity took place during these two years than in the previous 24 combined.  Government policies at the time encouraged investor confidence\, driving significant sector growth and laying a strong foundation for the future.  This had a big impact on the business of each participant in the sector. \nWhile many of those programmes have since been closed\, new and powerful drivers are shaping the sector: \n\nStrengthening New Zealand’s energy security\nCreating fresh income opportunities for the agriculture and horticulture sector from growing and processing of production residues\nSupporting exporters to meet buyer requirements that food is grown and processed using sustainable energy\n\nThis briefing will highlight the opportunities for business growth across the sector.\nThe webinar is open to the public and will take place immediately prior to the AGM. \nView State of bioenergy in New Zealand Webinar
