2020 will be a milestone year for New Zealand. We’ll have a Zero Carbon Act, a General Election and will be entering the decade when Paris commitments have to be achieved.
Time is running out on 2030 and while many organisations have started the journey to lower emissions, they still need ongoing advice. For the others, fingertips have to be hovering over the Panic Button. Either way, the market presents great opportunities for carbon, energy and sustainability professionals.
2020 is also a landmark year for Carbon and Energy Professionals (CEP). June will see our first conference under our new name. We’ve seen huge interest in CEP, our programmes and qualifications since we transcended from EMANZ. Our first conference as CEP will add some (low carbon) fuel to that evolution and with more and more individuals and organisations taking up the low carbon challenge the time has never been better to promote services and products to all those who will be attending and following our 2020 conference. The conference continues to grow, with last year’s attendance achieving a record 160 delegates. Now as CEP, we expect a new record for 2020.
As in 2019, we are partnering with The Sustainability Society (TSS) for the conference. TSS members brought huge value to the 2019 event and the cross fertilisation of the two societies added value to delegates, sponsors and exhibitors. We are delighted this collaboration is continuing.
For the first time since 2012, we’ll be holding the conference in Christchurch, this time around at the newly refurbished Town Hall. The venue is outstanding, central for ease of access by public transport and with a great mix of modern and retro architecture.
Our first conference as CEP will retain the best of previous years while bringing in broader interest groups and a wider portfolio of corporate buyers and specifiers.
I invite you to join us as a sponsor and/or exhibitor at this industry leading event. We have an exciting array of excellent value packages available, which will showcase your company, product or service to a wide audience of sustainability professionals. The early bird will have the widest selection of sponsorship options and the most popular selections invariably sell quickly, so register your interest now to reserve the package that works best for you.
The deadline for abstracts for papers is the end of the month (31-01-2020), so please get those in to me soon and why not take a look at the sponsorship and exhibition opportunities? The conference is a great showcase for energy efficiency and carbon reduction products and services and has to be the best value around.
CALL FOR PAPERS
CEP welcomes the submission of abstracts of papers that will educate and inform members on the latest, research, developments and innovations in energy efficiency, carbon reduction and sustainability.
Presentations will be around 25 to 30 minutes long, including time for questions. Promotionally focused sessions will be rejected by the CEP Review Committee, although interesting, educational and informative case studies are welcome.
